I HATE the hero8 and cringe when I think of the money spent, anyone relate?

I've been trying to resoilved the firmaware and overheating for a year. And recorded footage being corrupted. We are working homeless and my son paid for this camera out of his bonus. I've tried calling you guys multiple times, left messages for maerketing. Today I attempted to call support, the automated system repeats a message to come here and then hangs up. Any tips from other users who have maybe sold their gorpro and found something better. I'm not giving Hero a penny more money after this fiasco, feel like I got completely ripped off.

What SD card are you using? Do you have the camera up to date?

 

See if re-flashing the software will help.

Since this is a public forum about solving issues, maybe try sharing what the problem with your camera is so people can suggest a fix.  I have 2 Hero 8 camera's and I think they are great.  They have their limitations and if used improperly they can overheat (it's an action camera meant to be cooled by active aircooling, I've read of people trying to record a bookshelf in 4K @60FPS with Hypersmooth turned on..... no wonder it overheats...).

sandisk imagemate pro. I'm weary about updating the firmware, it gets worse when I do that.

meh, I really think this is a bad product, and the support from Hero abissmal.

@morehemp, make sure that a recommended SD card is used for your camera. Using SD cards that aren't recommended can cause issues like freezing as the card isn't fast enough to write the content, the camera getting hot or battery consumption is higher than normal as the camera stays in an active mode trying to sync to the card. 
 
Reinstalling the firmware update of the camera can also help correct any errors with the current software installation. Using an SD card adapter, connect your microSD card to your computer and follow the Manual Update instructions specified in this article: https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/How-to-Update-GoPro-Cameras/ta-p/394229 

 
Additionally, performing a factory reset in the camera may help.
