On the GoPro site in this article, https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/what-is-hypersmooth, there is this quote:
PRO TIP: You can smooth out your footage even more by using Touch Zoom or set the field of view to Linear to crop your shots before you start recording. This will give your camera an even bigger buffer to use when stabilizing your video.
My question: If you set it to linear AND zoomed, would that help stabilize it even more? In the article it says to zoom OR set to linear.

It was in my comment in this video (https://youtu.be/NvdMFeb9bz4) and the owner responded.
"nope, you only lose image quality if you do. It seems there's a upper cap on how much of the image is used for stabilization, thus why the 1/2 zoom was not significantly better than the 1/8 zoom."

Yes @markj48742,
You will lose quality but the stabilization will be enhanced since electronic stabilization crops the edges.
Same thing if you apply stabilization using third party software.
