Please try to use Quick Format using a PC.
If issue persist try to change SD card.
That might be a defective SD card.
I would suggest to use SD card that has lower data capacity.

I have used the quick format and full format, how can it be defective when it works in my computer/laptop/tablet and my phone, it’s the card form go pros suggestions on compatible cards page. I don’t really want to buy another card as this cost me 65£ and I can’t return it as it works on my other stuff. Go pro says it accepts the 256gb micro cards and it was one of the reasons I bought the GoPro Hero7 black.
If problems persist I shall return the camera as don’t do what I says

Thanks for getting back to us @markktm300
Is there a way for you to verify if you have the SD card model number as MB-MC256GA/AM?
I am not certain as to why this is happening.
To further isolate the issue, another SD card needs to be tested on the camera.
