Specifically bought Rode videomicro microphone and USB C to 3,5mm cable for my hero6 and nothing, all the time the same Audio input N/A. After couple days going for hiking and this crap happened. Also tried to update the software, when turn off quick capture mode and nothing helped, going nuts second day :(
Does anyone have any solutions ot ideas solving this misunderstanding?
Thank you COMUNITY!

GoPro hero 5 has no sound on quikcapture but none of the 5 setting are disabled. the mic if not plugged into the promic adapter will allow still the internal mic to pick up, until a mic is imputed. GoPro has not noted on their site but through tickets, to
"Rephain from suing quikcapture and a mic" to use the powered mic and poered mic + setting. Use Mode On, in order to capture sound until a future firmware is offered."
Now the New GP! chip that may or may not be part of the sound board, GoPro has by two poseters coming forward while who knows how many more out there, until a person with a perfect cam can simply come forward who owns a Hero 6 show the promic and qukcapture working?
GoPro has not found the Solution but has passed the troubles along to the newer cam and disabling it to a future firmware cn fix, the hardware/software sound.
I suggest to try setting up the camera, and trying out MOde On and then shutter. I understand you are up to date on firmware as the note will only tell you it is important to update firmware to get the promic working..
thank you for posting up, and I love to find out if this is something gopro simply overlooked or simply did not note t oall.
why I am researching before I buy my Hero 6 not a deal stopper but a few others have me waiting. a little longer.

seems now that Quikcapture works andwill not show a disable, that it can be the promic and adapter like in earlier models the shaft to long or seated in to far. try ever so gingerly removing itto enable it.

Wish i would have known about this before today, an entire day at disney was ruined because of this issue. Also one of my videos even had a error where could not be played back at all. Weird. Then the thing decided to turn on and start recording all on its own without asking it to which killed a battery nearly. lol I think until they fix it and work out bugs im going back to trusty hero 5 black and just saving my 500 dollars.

@rapidoasis68387 - Are you using the GoPro mic adapter, or another company's adapter? GoPro cameras require our own adapter to work. The Rode VideoMicro should work - it's the external mic I use.
The HERO6 can start recording if it's in a standby mode and hears a voice command, or if the shutter button gets pressed accidentally sending the camera into Quick Capture mode.

I am using GoPro adapter on a Hero 6. I am not using it in Quick Capture mode. I power on camera and then start video. My Hero 6 does not detect external microphone. I tried the cable with a Hero 5 and the cable was detected. Is my Hero 6 defective or is there a firmware update or other setting I need to change. The Hero 5 displayed the external mic icon on the upper left of screen. My Hero 6 did not.
