Hero5Black Time lapse not working

Hi, so I've searched for a few hours to see if anyone else has the same problem as me, and I've found nothing so here I am.

Every other feature works fine, but when I try to use the Time-Lapse video option, I hit the record button, and it goes to record it acts like it's recording but next to the blinking red circle, the numbers just stay at 00:00 no matter how long I "record" for. upon ending the recording it's saved but when I try to watch it, it says it's 00:00 long and the video plays back in a millisecond.

I've tried using the speech feature to record a time lapse, but the same problem persists. I've tried updating firmware, reverting firmware, reformatting the sd card in the camera, as well as reformatting the sd card on my PC, I've tried using a different sd card reformatting it in my PC before trying againt to reformat that sd card in the camera, I've tried changing around the settings in the time lapse feature, tried resetting it to factory settings, All to no avail.

If anyone has suggestions please let me know, thank you.

Re: Hero5Black Time lapse not working

hi,

I just hope you wait long enough.

video at 4K will be payed at 25fps

in order to fill 1sec of video, at 25fps, you need 25 frames.

if you put interval 1s, you need 25sec to have 1 sec of video.

counter will remain 00:00 for 25sec in this case.

if you put 5sec interval you have to wait  4x25=125sec, more than 2 minutes to have 1sec of time-lapse video.

etc.

if yoiu have NTSC video-mode, the fps will be 30 for the timelapse video, so the math have to be adapted.

I tested on mine hero5.

v02.60

works all 4K, 2.7k4:3, 1080.

hope this helps,

robert
