I have been setting up my new Hero5, and although the majority of functions work fine, I have been having problems using the GoPro app for Android. I am able to connect to my phone fine, but the camera view displayed on the screen is extremely pixelated and unusable (see attached image). The lower half of the view especially often goes completely black, and the video stream seems to have terrible compression issues resulting in a useless image. The image also often freezes entirely.
I have updated the Hero5 to the latest software via a Manual Update (following the instructions at https://gopro.com/support/hero5-black-product-update) but this did not fix the problem.
This issue seems to be related to https://community.gopro.com/t5/GoPro-Apps-for-Mobile/Pixelated-View-in-Capture-App/td-p/34170 and https://community.gopro.com/t5/GoPro-Apps-for-Mobile/GoPro-App-pixelated-preview-after-latest-update....
Are there any solutions for this issue? Is this a hardware problem?

I tried this with my old phone (Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, also running Android 7.0) and this worked fine.
This looks like it might not be an issue with the GoPro itself, but the software running on the more recent phone... Any idea what might be causing this?

I have the same issue, ony with an older camera - Hero 3+ black. I just received it as a warranty exchange. I tested it with my wifes' Iphone 8 plus and it worked fine, on my galaxy s7 (totally updated software) it is totally unuseable as a stream - pixelating any time i move the camera. Any ideas if there is a known issue there?
