Hero5 Session turns off during filming

I have a Hero5 Session which I use for flying, and mounted under the wing of the aircraft. Connection will be lost in the air, so I have to turn it on before take-off. But even then it turns off during filming in flight, maybe after half an hour, and even if it it is still battery. Very frustrating.

 

My Session 4 however works much better, i.e. it will remain on and filming until battery is flat. Suggestions?

This is odd. Based on your description I gather that you are using a recommended SD card with your HERO5 Session as you were able to do a successful filming with the HERO Session. If not though, try manually updating your HERO5 Session camera while ensuring that a recommended SD card is used. For a list of these cards, you can visit this link. Let this article guide you with doing a manual update. 

 

Let us know how it goes when you do a(nother) test.

Yes, it is odd, and I use rek. SD card (Sandisk Extreme 32 and 64). Is it also odd that communication is lost in the air?

Yes, it is. Have a go at the manual update. This is even if the camera is already with the latest firmware.
