Hero5 Session issues maintaining wifi connection

The app does not stay connected to the device/connects and disconnect/interferes with the wifi connection/doesnt connect to bluetooth (or does it)...

Whenever I am setting up the camera I like to use the app to make sure it has a good clear view of the show (I play piano in bars). Whenever I try to use the app it will only stay connected to the camera for a 10 seconds to 1 minute and then will disconnect. I have to go back and turn off wifi on my phone, then turn it back on, wait, then hurry up and try to adjust everything before it turns off again.

My phone stays connected to wifi just fine without the camera, but as soon as I start using the app and camera together the wifi goes haywire. I would think with such an industry leading product as gopro this would not happen. The app is frustrating to use and the phone support for customer service I cannot undersrand/isnt knowledgeable (has given me bad/wrong info before)

Am I doing something wrong? I figured this should be pretty easy to do. Connect the camera to your phone. Watch what's on the camera through your phone. What is the problem here?

Check the settings on your phone and make sure Wi-Fi calling is turned off. When on, the phone senses that the camera's Wi-Fi does not have an internet connection so it logges off.
