Hero5 Black won't connect to PC

Hello!

 

I'm trying to use the GoPro Quik app to retrieve media off of my GoPro and edit it. Here's what happens instead:

  1. I installed the Quik app on my Windows 10 PC, and rebooted. Disconnected all cables.
  2. Waited for machine to boot up, connected the camera via USB cable to the PC.
  3. Camera says "USB Connected" but no media appears on the PC, and Quik can't see the camera either.
  4. Disconnected cable, reconnected cable, turned camera off, then turned camera on. No luck.

Any ideas? I'm tired of burning my battery to transfer over bluetooth and wifi!

If your computer is not recognizing the USB connection it could be one of a few things:

  • There is a loose connection somewhere
  • The USB cable is faulty
  • There is a compatibility issue with the SD card
  • There in confusion as to where to find the camera or SD card contents on the computer
  • There is a fault with the camera itself.

 

Are you getting any particular error message when you connect your camera to your PC? Does Quik not see the camera that you are connecting?

If you have not done them yet, see if the steps to fix here clear the issue: 

  1. Camera is not Recognized when Plugged into a Computer USB Port

  2. Camera is Not Recognized on Quik for desktop - Windows

Let us know how it works out.

@carolineo7 - Once you connected the camera to the computer, be sure to turn the camera on. Format your microSD card with an Android mobile or delete the drive letter of your microSD card with windows disk manager or other similar software, both did the trick for me, i tried that with a 6 year old 16 gb class 2 kingston card and with a pair of samsung evo select uhs-iii cards with 64 and 128 gb
