Which SD card are you using in your camera? Freezing is often linked to SD card issues. A list of compatible cards can be found at https://gopro.com/help/articles/Block/microSD-Card-Considerations.

My hero 5 gopro is also having similar issues, whenever I take it under water (swimming in the ocean, pool, lake and tubing) and I try to save a video or photo it freezes on the Saving screen and it does not allow me to power it off or change the screen. It stays frozen on this screen until the gopro has completley drained battery even if it was fully charged. In addition to this that video ends up not saving and is lost. Is there any solution to this?

1 gopro offers a reset feature, you know about that?
2 gopro recommends certain cards, what card are you using?
Rather be out in the field doing what you love with issues, ne home sitting at the table figuring out your problem, with some of the info we're asking, gopro will direct you to the bottom of this page to contact support contaqct us.

Wow! This has been an issue since Hero3 and maybe longer.
I was checking to see if this is still happening as I was in the market and thought maybe by now they had this issue fixed. Unfortuately for me, my Hero3 was about a year old when this happened. GoPro would not replace or fix it. They offered a discount on a new camera which would have cost me almost the same as what I had paid for the original Hero3. I did research then and found that even the Hero 4 had the same issue. Now doing research into the Hero5 and based on this thread, same issue.
There seems to be a lot of these that don't have the problem. Probably a small enough percentage that do that GoPro just accepts the issue as cost of doing business.
As anyone can tell, I am a very dissatified customer.

I find the solution to this problem....not the ideal one..but let me use this camera.
After y update to ver.2.05 the issue beggins....so i decided to downgrade the camera to 1.50 ver.
It´s working fine after that....i guess some update on 2.05 related to sdcard it´s causing the problem.
I hope in the next update this problem ´ll be fixed.
i leave the downgrade video and link (in the video) how to downgrade.

i hope this works in your respective cases

Mine randomly locks up when pressing the record button from power off state. Latest firmware already. Never happened to me on this camera before. Maybe this is some sort of marketing **bleep** gearing us/me to upgrade to the hero6. Kindly check your latest firmware please.
