I got this Hero4 Session for Chistmas from my girlfriend. I have captured videos both in day and night time. Night time isn't the best. I recored in highest settings 1440 @30 fps, 1080 @30fps /60fps, and even 960 @60 fps. Tried using protunes and without. It is still grainy and blurry.
Last recording was at a GoKart track. My friend had a Hero 3 Silver. He uploaded his raw video to youtube and his video quality is much clear compared to my Hero4 Session. His settings was 1080p 30 fps and my session was 1080p 60 frames per second.
Any explanation?
I can share a youtube video if you guys would like to compare.

It most likely has to do with available light and or ISO settings. You were filming at 60 fps while your friend was at 30 fps. The sensor on his camera had more time to capture available light than yours due to the shutter speed. Additionally, you did not provide information on ISO settings. Without ProTune I believe the max is set to 1600 which is very high and allows for more noise in low light pictures.

Hero session lacks the settings then the other big time. you do not have that i nthe Session ISo, If I am not mistaken. its 30fps as the lowest and no autl low light as well. when the Hero 5 session came out we have more to work with. SO before I start jumping I like to see the video to say yeah its your angle, your lighting your scenery. etc

I think the ISO setting is missing in the latest app update, but it is a feature of the Hero Session and not just the Hero5 Session.
Page 73 of manual
ISO Limit adjusts the camera’s sensitivity in low-light environments, and creates a balance between brightness and resulting image noise. Image noise refers to the degree of graininess in the image. Setting Resulting Quality 1600 (default) Moderately bright video in low light, moderate image noise 400 Darker video in low light, reduced image noise
