Newer MacBook Pro, Hero Session only used once. Never connected to computer using only USB. I can use and adapter for the SD card but nothing else will work. I'd like to be able to connect via USB. I've followed the instructions in Quik etc... nothing.

@asnobody - I know you said you've used Quik, but I want to confirm you're using Quik for Desktop (as opposed to Quik for Mobile). If you are, be sure to power on the camera (pushing the little button on the back of the camera will do that) when you're connecting to your computer. If the camera is off, it will be in a charging mode. If it's on, it will try to connect to Quik.
If you still have issues, please reach out to our Support team at https://gopro.com/help/PKBContactus.

I have the same issue on a MacBook Pro 15 inch 2015 model. Everything is up to date, but for some reason the Quik desktop app will no longer take my GoPro via USB since last October. I've tried many troubleshooitng steps and support was little to no help at all. Holding out for an app update. Until then I'll just remove the SD card and do it the old fashioned way. Reset SMC settings on Mac, all other USB inputs work just fine. GoPro keeps insisting that it is my computer, but I've tried others as well with no success.

Im using my Hero 4 Session with my iMac without problems.
Sure, will not help you, but using the SD-card reader will import files faster anyhow! No added effort because you will have to open the side door anyhow in order to connect uUSB cable.
