Has any else had this problem?
Purchased a Sandisk ultra 256gb card. Formatted on the computer and then tried to format on the Hero 9. No joy even after 5 hours of the Gopro saying formatting on the screen. So thought it might be a sub-standard memory card or below the required spec. Then purchased a sandisk extreme pro 256gb which is in the Gopro recomended list and carried out a full format on the PC. Then carried out formatting on the Gopro and it has been doing that for 10 hours now with no joy.
Why advertise it can take a 256gb card if it wont format. Gopro online chat were as much help as a chocolate teapot.

Ive given up in the end and accecpted that it will not work with a 256gb card. Ive now purchased a 128gb card and that formatted straight away so just going to use that and use the 256gb to store on and save space on my laptop.

hi @laytonz ,
I use a 400GB SanDisk Extreme card and the format takes seconds.
|SanDisk Extreme PRO (UHS-1 U3/ V30) A2 400GB||SDSQXCZ-400G-GN6MA|
also I have a 256GB that formats also without issues
|SanDisk Extreme (UHS-1 U3 / V30) A2 256GB||SDSQXA1-256-GN6MA|
the Ultra is by no means recomended for GoPro 9
the sandisk extreme pro 256gb you talk about - is this card?
|SanDisk Extreme PRO (UHS-1 U3 / V30) A2 256GB|
has exactly this code?
when you formated it on PC, what format did you use?
just want to help you, would be pitty to have the 256 extreme cards purchased and not able to use it.
