Sorry to know that you're having problem with your GoPro Camera.
It shouldn't be that hot.
May I know how long did you use it?
How about the weather?
Is it exposed to direct sun light?
What resolution are you using?
Please let us know.
The first time I turned it on and realized how hot it was it was only on a few minutes. I used the camera in my kitchen. Was probably 70 degrees in the house and it was after dark. I was testing out all the different camera settings. Didnt stay on any one of them for very long.
The next evening we went to a children's museum and I took pictures of my kid exploring the exhibits. I kept the camera in my hand on the standard photo setting and had the screen saver set to 1min. Kept the camera on the whole time to see how the battery held up. When the camera became to hot to hold I would blow on it and switch to my other hand.
Hope this helped describ the circumstances.

The temp of this camera for me reached 113 degrees to the top, no where did it get hotter for the 230 minutes and plus of use with a SanDisk Ultra 16gb card on 4K@60 f hypersmooth with low bit rate and during high bitrate , this card should have CRASHED- sorry your camera is normal you feel heat differently I check with a gopro rep if it concerns you and read into the manual pages about the temps this camera gives they will talk about higherresolution generates more heat...
if youfeel the camera is a defect or faulty by all means call a gopro rep today
