Hero 8 Blue Dot Display PROBLEM - Check yours!

Just received a new Hero 8 Black today. After messing with it, in lower light scenes and only under “video” mode there is a blue dot that moves around on the display screen, similar to a dead pixel but larger and it moves around. This is a KNOWN issue, with others having similar blue dot or dots and some having green and red dots as well. This has been documented on YouTube and other forums since October. Since the dots move I would guess this to be a software issue that needs to be fixed in a firmware update. Consumers report of GoPro replacing the affected units but the replacements doing the same thing.
I tested a few other GoPro 8’s locally and they all have this problem.
GoPro needs to address this immediately as simply replacing the units is not the fix. Within the past few weeks there have been a lot of YouTube videos surfacing showing this issue. Just search for “GoPro 8 blue dot or pixels”.

Anyone else having this problem post it up here. Again, for me it shows up on the display screen when video mode is selected and in lower light conditions.

Greetings @adeptstar31171. I got my Hero 8 seven days ago and have the exact same issue of the red and blue dot appearing on video stand-by mode. Have you been able to resolve it? If so, please share how. I have contacted GoPro twice and both times the agents have acted as if this is the first they've heard of it. I've also been reluctant to go for an exchange if the new camera will also present the problem.

Oh wow, I thought this was just one of those things. Mines doing the same, with the latest updates installed and everything.

I was able to locate your Support case based on the email address associated with your GoPro Support Hub account. The representatives assisted you with the troubleshooting steps; reinstalled the firmware to correct errors with the current software installation, however, it didn't help resolve the issue with your HERO8 Black camera. Thankyou, will do just that. Support have been great. Mafe am prefer online, everything came but the casey arrived without the removable pouch which support sorted out quickly. My first experience at buying from gopro store (online). New to this whole gopro thing and little surprised at the issues already I must say.

Hi @adeptstar31171. I did the manual firmware update and Factory reset but nothing. Red and blue spots still there. I finally packed the camera up and brought it in for an exchange. The new camera is flawless! No spots anywhere no matter what preset or setting I'm using. Hope this helps and you have the same luck.
