Re: Hero 8 Black thermal shutdown

Same problem here.

Have the SD Card directly from gopro as well as different other premium SD cards.

Hero 8 shuts down after 30 Minutes of use, no matter what settings!

No cable pluged, just fully charged original hero8 battery.

Re: Hero 8 Black thermal shutdown

So there's a couple of issues here and it's always good to have all the information rather than just tidbits of information.

So charging your battery while using the battery will of course generate immense amounts of heat.  Using the battery generates heat.  Charging the battery generates heat.  When you try doing both at the same time, guess what?  HEAT!

Another thing is your shooting conditions.  If I'm doing a timelapse for instance, to avoid overheating, I'm going to do a few things like disable Wifi, disable hypersmooth and disable any other feature I'm not using.  The less load you put on the camera, the less heat will be generated.

If the camera is going to be in a fixed position for instance (on a tripod for Vlogging) then again, disable the features you're not using, you don't need hypersmooth on if it's in a fixed position.  It also doesn't need to be recording 4K @ 60FPS with a high bitrate.

Lack of proper airflow around the camera is also going to cause overheating.  I easily record in the highest settings possible when my camera is attached to the wing of my wife's airplane due to the immense amount of airflow around the camera.  Same with motorsports or sky diving.  Not a problem. However if I'm going to film outdoors on a tripod in the sunshine, there's no way I'd use the same settings if filming for more than 10 minutes as this doesn'st have the same airflow or natural cooling available.

So if you want to avoid overheating when shooting, I'd advise you to look at the settings you're using and if they are best set to the task you want to accomplish.

Re: Hero 8 Black thermal shutdown

Your welcome, I hope it does help.  If you continue to have issues though, let us know what you're shooting, how the camera is set up and what settings you're using.  That will help determine if the thermal issue is simple a natural build up of heat or if there's some other factor at play.

**bleep** luck making awesome video's!

Re: Hero 8 Black thermal shutdown

Was sollen die ganzen Erklärungen hier.

Re: Hero 8 Black thermal shutdown

Actually all I did was offer helpful suggestions based upon limited information.  If the suggestions are applied and there's no issue, then the problem is handled.  If on the other hand the issue persists, then different solutions will be presented.   in reference to the rest of your post:

Just make better products instead of always looking for the mistakes with the customers.

This is a public forum where members of the public who have issues post their issue and other members of the public respond.  I don't have customers here as I don't sell or manufacture any products.

Your product is immature and overpriced.

What product?  I don't have any products for sale here nor do I charge for a product that doesn't exist.

Instead of searching for solutions, you try to explain what the customer is doing wrong.

Based upon the limited information provided, I provided a possible solution.  The information provided was "my camera overheats and shuts down".  I provided a solution to overheating based upon that very small limited information.  If the solution isn't to your liking you can do the following:

A:  Provide more information as to what the issue is including camera set up, camera settings, filming conditions.  This would help pinpoint the issue in which case a different solution could be provided.

or

B:  Contact GoPro directly for assistance using this link https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs  and don't use a public forum only to complain about the help you get from the public.

Re: Hero 8 Black thermal shutdown
