Hero 8 Black mic adapter [ New ]

If I don't want to use the media mod or the GP mic adap[ter is there a 3rd p[arty adapter that should work please ? i tried a standard USB C adapter with separate mic and headphone ports but it doesn't work.

break open the camera and hardwire, other than that its gopro marketing

In other words, the GoPro Mic Adapter and the media mod are the only way you're going to be able to use an external microphone with your camera.
