Hero 7 - voice command Start Recording causes video to stop
[ New ]If I say "GoPro Start Recording" it will start a recording, but if I say it again it stops the recording. This is very frustrating... "Start Recording" should not cause an active recording session to stop ... or at least it should stop and start another video file...?????
What is the point of having a voice command for "Start Recording" and "Stop Recording" if "Start Recording" acts like a toggle.
Of couse I lost capture some great moments because of this. The whole point of the voice commands was because I often can't see the status lights or screen.....
START should always mean START......

Re: Hero 7 - voice command Start Recording causes video to stop
[ New ]Think of "GoPro Start Recording" and "GoPro Stop Recording" as being a top button / shutter press.
If you press the top button from standby, it starts the camera.
If you press the top button while recording it stops the camera.
Same with those two spoken phrases.
So does GoPro need TWO buttons on top of the camera!?!??!
I say no need.
It's just another example of the need to play with the camera at a quiet time, BEFORE critical, irreplaceable, non-repeatable, one-time-only events.

Re: Hero 7 - voice command Start Recording causes video to stop
[ New ]Appreciate your feedback, @epicdive32836. Since the camera could not do simultaneous recordings, the second "recording" that it detects while already recording is interpreted as "stop recording." The camera also cannot do two functions with one command, that is, stop a recording and start another immediately after.

Re: Hero 7 - voice command Start Recording causes video to stop
[ New ]There is only a few commands that the camera can act on while it is recording "GoPro Stop Recording", "GoPro HiLight", "That Was Sick", and "GoPro Stop Capture" (HERO7 cameras only). Which one from that list sounds most like "GoPro start Recording"? Obviously it's ""GoPro Stop Recording", which the camera is doing. https://gopro.com/help/articles/question_answer/What-Are-the-Voice-Control-Commands
Reading the manual and knowing the correct commands and when to use them is up to you. It's unfortunate you missed out on capturing some great moments because you failed to do this. Hopefully you will be better prepared next time.
Also, I don't know if this will help, but if you can hear the camera beeps, I believe it's normally just 3 beeps when turning on the camera and 7 when turning the camera off .

[ New ]I show just that gopro Stop recording, multiple times.I even say Sick. so what gives, it's a remote control to be used if you are going to Vlog then choose your gopro words wisely. Been there done that, gopro never did the VC (voicecommand) perfect.

Re: Hero 7 - voice command Start Recording causes video to stop
[ New ]As far as start and stop, to be honest, I sometimes couldn't tell which you were saying. I think they are probably the same, or at least very close to being the same, command as obviously if the camera is not recording, this command would start recording. If the camera IS recording, then this command would stop it. Distinguishing between Stop and Start isn't really that important, is it? If it is, why?

Re: Hero 7 - voice command Start Recording causes video to stop
[ New ]just say gopro stop and you get the idea:
gopro Be gin recording
gopro End recording
gopro uses a single Sylibol word for start/sstop they need have 2 for start and single for stop that would resolve the issue.
