Hero 7 silver max recording time

[ New ]

what is the max video recording time for a single video on a Hero 7 Silver?  I was getting only about max 20 seconds, then I changed out to a new SD Card, and now I am getting about 2 minutes, but I think it should be a lot more.

@rockyboost23255, what's the SD card used? Make sure that a recommended SD card is used for your camera.

If the problem is somehow related to an issue with the camera's firmware, reinstalling the firmware update of the camera can help correct any errors with the current software installation. Follow the Manual Update instructions specified in this article: https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/How-to-Update-GoPro-Cameras/ta-p/394229

If the issue persists, our Support team will be able to assist you with the next steps. You may reach out to them through https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs to initiate a callback request or chat with one of the representatives.

Hi @rockyboost23255,

Looks like you're using Quickcapture.

Please turn on your camera first using the mode button then switch to video mode before recording.

Mode button is the small button on the left side of the camera.

Yes I had quickcapture turned on initially and was only getting 20 sec clips, but then turned that off and still getting only 45 sec shots.  I was skiing and started using voice commands, but still after about 30-40 seconds I would get some beeps, and all the videos would be a max of 45 secs.  Now after coming home It stopped after about 2 minutes.  The clip length is set to 30 secs.   Is there any meaning to the beeps?

The other thing is most of the videos would not download.

Sometimes there is one long beep followed by three beeps.  Sometimes there are two beeps.  It seems to beep about 8 short beeps before powering off.

I will update the firmware.  The current MicroSD is a SAN Disk.  The question I have is:  With Quik Capture off, how long of a video could be produced?   I think it should capture video until the power runs out. But 2:15  is well before that. Will cold temps affect any settings or video?  I was skiing when trying to make videos (below freezing, but only in the 20's.

@rockyboost23255, the camera's maximum battery capacity will vary based on settings, environmental conditions, and other factors. You may check this article that lists down the estimated runtime (in minutes) of MAX: https://community.gopro.com/t5/en/MAX-Battery-Information/ta-p/396168
