Hero 7 black totally unusable

Have owned GoPros since the hero 3. Always thought they were high quality and “the best” on the market. Hero 7 black purchased to simply clip on a fence and film some baseball games. Overheats after 15 mins. Lowered to 1080 turned off all features - overheats after 45 mins in a 68 degree room. Gopros are marketed as rugged tough action cameras yet the newest camera cannot record at 1080 inside for more than 45 mins ?? Is this normal or do I have a defective camera ? Yes I’ve updated firmware and checked that my sd card is on “the list”

What SD card are you using?

Was the camera connected to a power source when the over heating was observed?

Please see if resetting the camera will help.  Reset Camera Settings

 

If it's still the same, proceed with a manual software update. https://gopro.com/update/

This usually clears out errors that may have been encountered with the previous installation.

What SD card are you using?

sandisk extreme plus 128. I've tried that. I've followed all the steps. My question is are other people having this issue? 

 

It does the same thing with no battery plugged directly in.
