Several times now the camera has completly locked up.
Today, went out, full battery.
No connections, however after several short videos of of less than 1 min each.
Then camera refused to work or record.
When I got home the camera was very hot to the touch.
I eventually managed to get camera to reset and power level was down to 29%, condisering amount of recording I hade done, would have expected it to be around 90%.
This is not first time this has happened.
I have reloaded firmware on and done resets several times.
ANy ideas ?

Other things to try:
Using an USB/SD adapter, insert your card in your computer and do a FULL (NOT Quick) format.
Download the manual update and extract it to your computer
Place the UPDATE folder (not UPDATE.zip) onto your blank SD card
Insert the card into your camera and power on using the side Mode button
Once done, format the SD in the camera Preferences>Reset>Format SD
Factory Reset the camera Preferences>Reset>Factory Reset
Turn OFF Auto Low Light
Set the orientation to UP Preferences>Display>Orientation UP

To turn off Auto Low Light, put the camera in 1080p/60fps (or 1440p/60fps) and disable it in the settings.

Ok, will try another SD card. I am using sandisk extreme like you.
Though this will be 3rd card.
Yes done a full format on existing card
Yes done manual update
Yes done factory reset
Yes orienation is UP
Not tried swithching off low light.
Its very frustrating when out in field and it all goes pear shaped.
Strange that the camera was obviously trying do something as the power level and heat it was generting.

Best of luck. I ended up switching to Samsung Select 64GB for my SD cards.
just looking at card.
samsung evo select
samsung evo plus
on some sizes the plus is same speed, others the plus is 5% faster.
