I know this has been posted many times but it is important you recognise your customers dissatisfaction.
Bought myself a gopro hero 7 and some spare batteries. I noted the batteries looked different. Turned out the one included with the camera was made in China and the 2 additional gopro batteries I bought are Vietnamese.
The Chinese battery will not charge to 100%! I returned the original memory cards I bought for the camera, bought some more (at an additional expense to myself) that were on your approved list and did the update to the firmware.
This did not help.
Recently on a trip I filmed about 20 mins of footage. I then transferred the footage to my phone, turned WiFi and voice command etc off on the camera and switched it off. The battery had about 70% left on it. When I picked the camera up 6 hours later it was very warm to touch and would not switch on. Removed the battery and tried again. Would not switch back on. Luckily I had bought the spare Vietnamese batteries. I popped one in and the camera worked fine. Filmed another 25 or so minutes footage, transferred to phone and switched camera off. I have just switched the camera on 20 hours later and it still has the same amount of battery percentage as it did when I switched it off.
I want gopro to acknowledge they have sold a camera with a battery that is not fit for purpose. I am thinking of returning my camera when I get from this trip for that reason. I am also concerned with a potential safety issue of the batteries you have provided.
The footage I initially filmed was on a plane. As I have previously stated that camera was very warm to touch 6 hours later. What is to say this could not have caused an incident?
I am a first time user of your brand and was initially very impressed with the camera but this is just leaving a sour taste in the mouth.

Thank you for the feedback. This matter has been raised to the team following reports from users. We have not heard from them yet though, as for a fix or an update. We will post back once we have new information.

I know in the USA you sell this camera for around $399 dollars. In the UK you charge $490. I expect a product that works for $490.

Please read this earlier thread - https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/Hero-7-Black-battery-drain/td-p/249036/jump-to/first-unread-m...
I tested both the chinese and vietnamese batteries and found that a small number of charge/discharge cycles resolved the issue with the chinese battery either not charging fully or discharging faster than expected.

I updated through connecting to my Mac and also through adding the files to the sd card. However i also started having issues with the Vietnamese batteries too. Recording 10 mins of video with battery at 100% on stopping recording the battery shows 0% and only way to fix this was remove the battery and re insert.
I have now returned the camera. For £400 pounds there are much more reliable alternatives.

after reading this i checked my battery that came with my gopro 7 and yes mine also is made in china
i was running my old gopro 5 battery in the gopro 7 (gopro 5 battery is made by samsung vietnam) as i thought i was going to take my camera back
as it has loads of other problems that other people are aslo getting and decided to keep it as hopefully some firmware should come out for it to fix all these problems and there a lot of them...i have not checked the battery drain on each battery yet to compare
