Hero 7 - .WAV File
[ New ]I have the Hero 7 and on the card there are .MP4, .THM, .WAV files. I wished I could have both the .THM and .WAV files remain hidden. Is this possible? I know on my Hero 6 the .WAV files are not there. Why the difference in the two units?

Re: Hero 7 - .WAV File
[ New ]The audio recorded in the videos is lossy (compressed) while the .wav audio are in a format that can cover full frequency and are uncompressed (when Low is selected). Additionally, the video audio will have a good amount of processing done to it – auto gain control (AGC), wind reduction (if manual audio control is turned off or not in Stereo Only Mode), and more. In the Protune (Raw) audio you are selecting how much you want applied.
Next comes processing. Audio files require boosting in an editor (raising db) as no audio gain is applied automatically.
Low: Applies minimal processing to the audio file. Saves a .wav file with 3 separate audio tracks – one for each mic on the camera.
Medium: Applies some processing, including your manual audio choice if enabled (stereo or wind).
High: Fully processed audio (matches the audio that you’ll find attached with your video – but higher quality).

Re: Hero 7 - .WAV File
[ New ].wav is an option you have to select in ProTune. Something about a separate audio track. The .thm and .lrv files are the video thumbnails and preview (Low Resolution Video), respectively. You cannot make these go away as the camera generates them automatically. They are deletable, however.

Pretty far out. Thanks @danielr15

No problem, glad to hear you are enjoying, and getting plenty of use from, your camera(s).
Yes. I like the 7 much greater than the 6 so I'm selling off the 6 this week. I might get another 7 or I might just operate with that one for a while. I picked up the Canon G7X mk 2 which cuts with the 80D and SL2 (that I added a few weeks back) quite well. With ProTune I can dial the 7 down nicely and get color back in the faces with excellent cross colors. I've prob sold a few of the 7's and maybe GoPro ought to give me a commission? :-) JK, I'm quite pleased and have all kinds of mounting hardware. Again many thanks for your help in getting me "on board" and running. Persistence = Performance.
