Hero 7 Black stuttering playback & flasing gauge and screen in my car

[ Edited ]

Hi this is my first post here. I own two GoPro cameras. First I bought used Hero 5 Black for it's 4K capability as I make car reviews on my YouTube channel. I do this full time. The voice commands are super great and safe for me to operate while driving.

I bought the new Hero 7 Black and am super disappointed. My gauge cluster and radio screen keep flashing, and playback video stutters on my Mac when trying to edit 4K 60p video. I have MacBook Pro 15" Retina mid 2012, latest macOS Mojave and I use iMovie for editing. I was expecting same lvl of quality and easy to use out of the box.

I updated the camera software to latest version. One it came with, didn't have hypersmooth stabilization for 4K 60p, and the camera was overheating.

Now I was playing with settings, and I just can't get it to work what I consider normaly. And I am afraid I will have to return it. :(

Reading here on the support site that HEVC is the issue. I beg the differ. macOS supports it, my iPhone 7 and newer ones all use this file format. I have no problem editing my 4K video capture on my iPhone camera. Guess I should've bought the new iPhone Xs instead?

So my Q is why is my video stuttering while I tried to edit it and why is every digital thing flashing?

I am still hoping I missed something out and there is easy fix.

I forgot to add. 4K 30p playback is ok, but still my gauge and radio screen keep flashing in video. 4K 60p is choppy I tried even in Final Cut Pro.
