I'm having an issue with my Hero 7 Black (new out of the box) whereby I'm repeatedly getting "SD CARD ERROR" followed by the camera switching itself straight off. I have formatted the card and confirmed it is compatible with the device (Samsung EVO Plus 128GB) - the card is also new out of the box so not sure what could be causing this? Have tried Google and most of the answers involve going into the settings menu on the GoPro to fix, which is impossible as it switches itself off straight away after the error as above.
Has anyone else experienced this and/or have any idea what the problem could be? Any help would be much appreciated!

Please try thi.
Using a computer, format the SD card and make sure that it is on default settings.
After that reset the camera to factory settings and install a new firmware manually.
Please let us know.

Try to use other SD card and install the update again using the new SD card.
If issue still persist ti might be the camera.
If the issue is fixed then that is the SD card.

The card is working fine on the PC
Other cards are working fine on the GOPRO
Just the Samsung EVO 128, the gopro is asking for format, I kept the gopro 2 hours formating and it never finishes

Very poor from GoPro as now I'll have to return the SD card and have to order another one. Not at all happy.

I have the same issue with my Hero 7 Black, I have tried with 2 brand new cards (both recommended by Gopro) and both saids SD-Error and when the camera wants to format the cards it just keeps on going but never finishes.
Both cards work fine when plugged in to my PC.

What SD cards have you tried?
Formatting the card on the camera should not take more than 5 mins.
Try to do a full format on the SD cards first using a computer.
Then see if this makes a difference.
For reference you can also check NO SD or SD ERR on Camera's LCD
