I'd like to step in and share a similar experience. I upgraded my 2018 MBP to Catalina two days ago. My Hero 7 black is running the most current firmware. Prior to the catalina update, I would plug the Hero (turned on) into the MBP using a SS USB-C cable and the GoPro Quik software would pop up and let me download the media and then erase it from the camera. As of last night (first try with Catalina) I experienced some issues. Quik loaded just fine but when I attempted to download the media, the progress bar stopped at just a smidge (technical term) and hung for over 20 minutes. I had to disconnect the camera to get Quik to become responsive. I repeated the procedure and the media downloaded in about 2 seconds (it should have taken 3-5 minutes). The media appears to be intact. The second issue was with clearing the media from the camera. Quik would again freeze after displaying a stuck progress bar. I ended up deleting the media using the "format SD card" option from the camera touchscreen after disconnecting it.

Quik can be very useful for downloading media, organizing it, and uploading to the cloud; however, it's not without its flaws for sure. There have been times when I've connected and pressed the download button and nothing seemed to happen. When I checked my folders though, I could see that it was importing my media. In general, I just use a USB/SD adapter and move my files over manually and do a format of the SD card. Quik is set to scan these folders, so it displays the imported media correctly.
You issue does not seem to be Quik related. If finder can't see the camera, then it's not the Quik program giving you issues. Quik could be working great, but if the computer itself doesn't see the connected device, it wont matter if Quik is working or not.

You are all correct...the software does not work with Catalina. I tried call support and got some woman from the Phillipines who didn't understand what I was asking. I was asking if the software has been updated, but she had no clue what I was talking about.
Reading the replies from Go Pro on this board it seems Go Pro doesn't care...maybe it's time for us Mac users to rank them out on social media....really a very disappointing quality and customer service issue. Go Pro knew a long time ago Catalina was coming....start bitching on Facebook, etc....

At the moment, I am not going to fuss at GoPro too much. Catalina has multiple issues with external devices and status reporting (example - iPad file transfer via USB C - sad). My own experience is that the files are being transfered but status is not being repoorted until the entire set of files is copied. You can check if this is the case for you by opening the import location in finder and seeing if files are appearing. With respect to the deletion of files from the SD card - I have not had a problem after the first failure. I know that it sounds like I am a shill but I would give them some time for the wrinkles to smooth out given the mess that is Catalina.

I agree with post above with this part, however (1) I dont tknow how many files, (2) can't see them downloading, and (3) have no idea when it's finished.
As for issue with Catalina, I'd be shocked if there weren't, but still what is troubling from the Go Pro side is that in reading their responses they do not indicate and concern or intimate that they are aware and working on the issue.
Thank you for your reply.
