Hey guys i just purchased a Hero 7 Black used it once only to record 4k Video at 60 fps (The whole idea of me to purchase the camera) the gopro heats up like crazy. I just recorded a 15 minute video, apprantely i returned it to the store where i purchased it from and they sent it to gorpo for testing and they agree it normal for the camera to heat up and it is not meant to record 4k videos for more than 20 minutes max. They also advised me to shoot videos at 1080p (hahahaha) I already have a Hero 3 Silver for that, the whole idea of me to purchase the Hero 7 Black is to record videos on 4k at 60fps. The way you have promoted the product with people using the camera for surfing, car race's, biking i am sure they are recroding 4k videos for more than 15 minutes.
really disaapointed when you purchase something so expensive and it does not perform as advertised.
I even purchased a Sandisk extreme memory card.
Please refund me my money.

Secondly - yes this camera has this issue and you can read a lot of about it here:
I am really pissed off bout this as well. I had the same purpose like you to use it. Belive me it is the first of your problem with this camera.

So lets understand the Post:
1. What date have you purchased?
2. Was your Return Policy over?
3 the Store sent the camera to Gopro for you?
4. Did hte Store give you another camera?
I ask these questions b/c you were not clear on it, sounds like your puchase passed the return policy and the store sent back the camera, and you have to wait be approved and htestore will call you when they get it in?
Hero 7 Black 4k60 with Hypersmooth isover working and forces to shut down, People claimed 45 minutes, while you got 15 minutes? what was the climate by you Summer or winter? I am sure everyone are not making 1 hour clips but 1 minute clips and trimming and editing it together.. It be a smart move by Gopro to have released Hypersmooth only to 2.7K only until they cann properly get a camera to fucntion 100 % then be issued.
Just my thoughts

Anyway, didn't work out for you. Bummer. Hope you find something that does. In the meantime, contact GoPro Support (this is a member to member community, not the GoPro Support Team), and they should be able to help you out (With returning the camera. The SD card you'll have to take back to the store where you bought it).
From the manual:
High Resolutions/High Frame Rates
Shooting high-resolution or high-fps video when it’s warm out can cause your camera to heat up and use more power.
Lack of airflow and connecting to the GoPro app can cause your camera to warm up even more, use more power, and shorten recording time.
If heat’s a problem, try recording shorter videos. Also limit use of features that take a lot of power, like the GoPro app. The GoPro Smart Remote (sold separately) can control your GoPro while using less energy.
Your camera will tell you if it needs to shut down and cool off.

Unfortunately with 4K at 60fps, the unit will get warm pretty quickly as will any other small unit; most phones will only do 5 minute clips in 6k because it generates so much heat. Because the unit is waterproof, everything is sealed up so there is really no way to allow the head to dissipate quickly. I know that's not what you wanted to hear and I was a little bummed when I discovered that as well but there are really only 2 work a rounds. 1) break the recording up into 15 minute time periods and allow a little time in between for the unit to cool down, 2) get a battery pack and remove the battery from the camera and remove the battery door to help allow cooling for longer recording periods (obviously do not do this if the unit will get wet). I realize this is not optimal but they are work a rounds.

Have purchased it on the 9th of October from a online store here in the uae used it for the first time after a week since I got it. Mounted it in my car and tried recording a 4K video. The store sent the camera and told me it’s not meant to record long 4K videos and that’s it .... that’s not the solution anyone would expect
you are under a return Policy. most U.S.A. Stores are 14 day return, and some online as well? No one knows the Climate you are in if it's winter or summer, if its behind a window at 70 degrees best to be cooled off. I have to agree with the others and still you did not answer much of hte questions that may help us out.
So why not start by lowering your resolution down no one shoots all day in 4K60 I don;t
