Hero 7 Black - Footage Glitching Out

Hey, everyone.

 

So I got myself a Hero 7 Black a few months ago, but haven't gotten around to using it all that much.

However, when I have been using it - it has not been pain free.

 

After a while of recording, the footage can start to really glitch out. It gets very choppy and produces a ton of artifacts.

Yesterday I recorded about 50 minutes of footage and lost the final ~15 minutes to this glitch. Super bummed out by this.

 

Here's a snippet of when the issue begins and a bit into it. See how it starts chopping up, then produces artifacts.

I've had this happen once before, but thankfully it was at the very end of fiiming with footage that didn't matter, so I didn't put much more thought into it.

 

I'm using a SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDXC Class 10 UHS-I U3 V30 A2 170/90MB/s 128GB card.

 

I can see the thing happening when viewing the footage directly from the GoPro preview, so there shouldn't be an issue with my playback device or file transfer.

 

 

Should I look into replacing the GoPro unit, or could it be the SD card?

Please see if resetting the camera will work.  Reset Camera Settings
If it's still the same, proceed with a manual software update. https://gopro.com/update/
Let us know how it goes.

Other users also suggest setting Auto Low Light off.
