I just got back from Big Sky, Montana last Saturday (EVERY day was below zero) and I had to work my GoPro smart like ANY piece of electronic equipment at those temps... any battery acts goofy at those temps. Geesh! I even used it on a snowmobile trip into Yellowstone in frigid temps COMPOUNDED by the sled's windchill effect.
I learned a LOT from this thread and I am good with it... keeping it on all the time was helpful info (as well as other battery-energy-sparing tips), I keep spare batteries in inner layers, etc.
