@agilejump05502, did you notice the issue happened in cold conditions as well ?
Did the change of unit solved it ?
I did not have time yet to contact gopro support during their tight openning hours in my country.

Is there any update on this? I'm having the same issue. I've used my 6 on two separate days. The first day it worked great but then yesterday everytime the camera would auto shut off it would show the initial setup menu when I turned it back on. I would have to pull the battery and then restart it and everything worked fine. It does this everytime though. Super annoying.

I'm having the same problem. Its really anoying and make me not even want to use the camera. I'm on vertion HD6.01.01.60.00 if that helps anyone. It does seem to be related to cold as it only happens when I'm snowboarding. At first I thought it was something to do with me having the in protective housing with a open backdoor. But does it with a closed backdoor as well. When it does this it go back to the tour / first time start up screen and has a fast bliking blue light on it. I wish I knew if this was a defect or me doing something.

So does anybody from GoPro actually want to chime in here? Not a single rep from the company has responded to this thread. What is the point of these forums? Not to sound like an a**, but it's stuff like this that might be one of the reasons why the company is tanking.

I am sorry to hear you are having some trouble with that camera. Keep in mind that this is a Community Support Hub where users can go to get help from one another, share tips and tricks, and post content but not our direct support. We do try to get to as many threads as possible.
With that being said I would give these steps a try:
First make sure you are using a recommend SD Card, SanDisk Extreme/Extreme Plus/Extreme Pro UHS Video Speed Class 30 (V30) - ≥32GB
The I would run through the manual update process. Follow the link below and select the "Update your camera manually" option:
Once the camera is updated try taking a few test shots and see if you can get the camera to recreate that behavior.
If you are still having trouble after that get in touch with our Support Team directly by Phone or Chat:
Personally using this method I have not had any issues with my HERO6 cameras. If I ever experience any freezing issues these steps will fix the issue:
