Hero 6 not connecting properly to app
[ New ]When I try to connect a new Hero 6 to the Android phone app (newest version), the app finds the GoPro, says it is connected and register the correct camera name -- but then immidiately lose the connnection and is not able to access camera in any way.
I have tried every solution suggested at this page, with no change: https://gopro.com/help/articles/Solutions_Troubleshooting/GoPro-App-Camera-Connection-Troubleshootin...
I have manually (through the SD card) updated the Hero 6 to latest firmware (1.60) with no change.
Anyone have any other suggestions to try?
Phone is Samsung Galaxy S7, latest Android 7.0.

[ New ]Thanks, I finally got it working but couldn't tell why because I ended up changing phone settings at semi-random (Bluetooth visibility etc, removing phone security protection, etc - despite having multiple other Bluetooth devices that worked as it was), changed to 2.4GHz (again, also tried before), and tried connecting directly to camera from native phone Bluetooth menu instead of from app - when starting app again suddenly it worked.

There was an update to GoPro App today! Make sure the App is up to date and run through those steps one more time!

[ New ]Thanks, tried that and same result as before.
On first connection attempt first the Camera fairly quickly says "connected" and returns to viewer mode. The app spins on connecting significantly longer, but finally says connected and show up the camera name (so there has been a connection). But any attempt at doing anything with the camera in the app results in new connection spinning and nothing happening and then I get the "could not connect to the camera" message. And the camera now says that status for GoPro App is "disconnected".

[ New ]In my case, there is a good connection. Firmware 1.61. Everything works fine. But only about one minute :)). Android app suddenly says that the camera is turned off and no longer able to connect to the camera. Although the camera is currently working. Re-linking impossible. You need to uninstall the camera app, do reset the connection in the camera. Then again, a good connection, but only for a minute. The time lapses, night photo is very inconvenient to do without wifi.

I had all the same symptoms, and having played with various settings for a frustrating couple of hours...
It turned out that all I had to do was set the camera's Wifi connection to 2.4GHz and heh presto - all working !
