Hero 5 recorded video not playing smoothly. Shows stuck frames.

Hello,

1. I have purchansed a Hero 5 black 2 months back. I am using a samsung 128Gb memory card with the gopro. Now i am observing a problem with the gopro recorded video. After recording if i play the video in any player(including Quick) i can see the frames are are stuck

at some place. Means video will play for some time, and will be stuck at one frame for some time, then again plays for some time and again gets stuck. Audio will be working fine. Tried formatting the device, formatting the memory card etc. still the issue exist. The frame stuck

problem is seen only with an external player. If i play the video in gopro itself, i can see its not stuck and the video play smoothly. If anybody faced similar problem and know the solution, really appritiate your inputs.

2. The recorded video in memory card appear as different files for a single 45mins continues record. Approximately 11-12 min videos with impropoer naming of the files. Is this normal?.

Record mode: 1080p, 60fps, video stabilization ON,

Thanks.

Re: Hero 5 recorded video not playing smoothly. Shows stuck frames.

If you can answer a few questions it will help.

  1. What model of Samsung card are you using?
  2. Are you loading the videos to a drive on the computer or playing them off of the SD card?
  3. What year is your computer?
  4. What Operating System are you using?
  5. What Processor does it have?
  6. How much RAM does it have?
  7. Does your computer have a GPU and if so, what type?
  8. If you load a video directly to YouTube or Vimeo (without editing) does it play smoothly when watching on their platform?
    1. Please post a video here

As far as the 45 minute continuous recording being split into several files, yes, this is normal.  It's called chaptering and you can read more about it here https://gopro.com/help/articles/question_answer/GoPro-Camera-File-Chaptering-Information
