Hero 5 camera screen not working

[ New ]

Hi,

My GoPro Hero 5 LCD screen has stopped working. I have updated the firmware and read multiple forum posts on this. I am currently in New Zealand so am outside of the customer support hours. Please can you instruct me on what to do via this post? I've seen lots of posts stating that customer support will talk people through this but I'd have to stay up all night to speak to them. If performing a factory reset would help, please advise on how I can achieve this without the LCD screen. Thank you in advance!

Jane

@janeesmith - It's possible that doing a manual update would help with this. Instructions are at https://gopro.com/en/us/update/hero5.

Unfortunately, in many cases, this issue is caused by incorrectly inserting the SD card into the camera so that it goes into the space between the SD card slot and the battery. When that is done, it can damage the rear display. Our team at https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs can help assess that that's the issue and try to find a resolution for you if that's the case. We do offer local hours for our Support team, though they may only be offered on Monday-Friday in your region.
