Hero 5 black LED problem

Hi, I just saw some yellow halos on the border of the screen when the camera is on setting mode/ black screen. Does anyone have the same problem? What about the warranty?

@pizzinizzi92 - Variations in brightness on the LCD screen are expected when viewed in dark environments, with the subject in a dark environment. This variation in brightness has no effect on the touch functionality of the LCD screen or photos and videos being encoded on the camera.

FullSizeRender.jpgso,  that means if I buy a brand new car and while driving back home I see some scratches on it but the car still works I should accept it... -.-'

 

have a look at the pictures, it doesn't depends by the environment but only a display issue, I've spent 430 bucks for it and I'm not the only one here in italy with this problem. I have changed 2 cameras with no results.

Hi Pizzinizzi92, I had a somewhat similar concern. I've exchanged mine five times at different store location thinking may some stores received a bad batch...but with the same results...yellowish screen when you turn the camera on. Mine fades away though in about 30 seconds and you can actually see the transition from yellow to white which makes it more nerve wracking. I mean, it's too obvious to have missed during quality control. I bought mine on the day of release here in US. I've waited and exchange within the store policy so there's some intervals for what I hope a different batch. In the end, I think that's how it was designed, perhaps to have a better stability some functions had to suffer. I returned mines and now I don't want to buy any gopro products until they resolved this issue.

And no, it's not normal, don't let these GoPro public-relations-people convince you otherwise. I have 3 different cameras here (DSLR, M4/3 and Xiaomi YI 4K), and none of them has anything similar to this light bleed problem on the LCD. It's not normal, period. A product that costs around $600 here in Canada (with taxes in), should be almost perfect, and for sure without these kinds of glitches. I've returned mine twice, and both times I've got exactly the same problem. Same goes for my coworker who purchased his in the same city (Toronto), but different BestBuy location. I've returned third one for a full refund for good, because I don't want my hard earned money to go down the drain if HERO 5 LCD decides to die one day in the upcoming months.

Hi,

Even if it is a known problem, GoPro keeps saying it is normal. In my opinion (working in this domain) it is not. You can try contacting GoPro Support - maybe they will do an exception and replace your camera - 80% they won't but you can try.
