1) Wind noise
I use the cam mainly for mountain biking, and it's on a mount on the side of my helmet to dodge branches. Even at fairly low speeds under tree cover, the wind noise completely swamps the video.
I've tried putting electrical tape over the front mic, and on the front and rear mic at the same time, but that has made little difference for some reason. The camera is supposed to have wind noise cancelling?! The normal furry mufflers are far too big for this camera and end up being visible in the shot.
2) Function beeps
On other cameras they beep twice for stopping recording and once for starting or something similar. The Hero 5 session seems to beep once for both so there's no way to see if it's recording or not unless you take your helmet off or keep using the phone app which kills battery.
Hoping someone has solutions or there is a miracle firmware release coming up!! 😹

From what you told us, the Hero 5 Session Only beeps Once for recording, and once for stopping?
The Hero 5 Session will be Once for recording and once along with 6 beeps that is the shut off. I am demonstratimg with a Hero Session, as The Hero 5 Session has become depleted over long period ofnot being used Lol.
I agree the camera's can have other chimes, . For the Dual Mic wind canceling, tape is not enough I guess and maybe you'll need to use a piece of plastic or cardboard, to defect, along with tape? If not time toget a voice recorder andsynch your shots. theoom should do,
What would be nice is the option to switch off the front or back mic. We have the option to switch off beeps,
Its a compact action camera, we ask the world of them Enjoy.

From fresh, you are correct, it's one beep for start, then when you press again to stop recording there are a series of beeps. If it did this every time it would be obvious which state it's in. However, I did the same thing 5 times in a row afterwards and it only beeped once for start and once for stop!
I reckon it's a bug with the H5 session software, hopefully a tech can confirm it's a firmware thing that can be fixed in a future release? A very small thing I assume. I am already on hd5.03.02.00.00.
As for the wind noise, I think it's a bit duff for an action camera to not work outside Maybe again, this is a firmware tweak that could come later. FYI below is where I put the tape, I could add more, but I think it's unlikely air is getting through the electrical tape.
Unless it's air getting in these open bits at the side (no idea what these are for).

I don't know how much help the tape will do as the mics will still pick up the wind hitting the tape. I haven't tested this yet, but I would think a DYI of something similar to a deadcat or foam around the mic would work best. Perhaps even a little bit of a cotton ball taped over the mic would help.

I was struggling with the wind noise problem until I finally figured out an easy fix. If you cover the "drain holes" on the corners of the Hero5 Session (you don't even need to cover the front microphone) it immediately reduces the wind noise by a drastic amount. I think that the drain holes must be causing some weird turbulence with the airflow. I just used medical tape.
