My problem is, when I turn on my session5 with the menu button, it turns on, shows me the video mode, than time lapse, and after that, it turns off.
If the wifi is turned on, everything works fine:
Turning on with the menu button, video mode appears, than time lapse, after that an icon of a camera (That is my personalised setting, photo mode, if the gopro is turned on), and after that, I'm in photo mode.
Please help! :)

Below I have included a link for some troubleshooting steps to try. Let me know how it goes.
Note: Useful for updating or reinstalling camera software.
- Go to the HERO5 Session update page.
- Under "Other ways to update" at the base of the page, click "Update your camera manually."
- Enter your Serial Number and other requested information, click Next Step.
- Click "Download Update."
- Click "Click here to download firmware."
- Follow the steps on the screen for detailed instructions for your operating system.

@Anonymous What SD card are you using in the camera? Also are you seeing this issue with no SD card in the camera? While you can't take videos or photos without the SD card in the camera you can still attempt to scroll the menu.

That's just how the session works. It's a feature called quick capture. It is off as default and when you push record it will turn on and record, then when you stop recording it will turn off. This is to conserve battery life and since there is no screen you don't need it on to compose a shot. Just push the button and take it.
The only way to have it stay on for more than 5 seconds after pressing the menu button is to turn on connections (as you mentioned, so it will stay connected) or to turn on voice control. If you turn it off manually and connections are off; however, it will go back to be quick capture unless you turn voice control off then on again.

I tought quick capture and battery save mode works only with the record button.
I mean there is no reasonable cause to turn off.
So if You want to turn on your gopro session 5 ON (without wifi connection) WITH THE MENU BUTTON, why should itslef automatically turn off?
Makes no sense... The thing is not making photos, or doing any recordings, so it does not drain the battery. I feel no need for battery save, when I just want to turn it on...
Again it makes no sense, that you can turn on your device in the same situation with wifi connection on, when it DOES DRAIN THE BATTERY.
Very VERY disturbing "feature".

The led display will use battery when not recording. Not much, but it does. But again, that's how the session works. It is off until you push record, then will turn back off after you stop recording. You can use the menu button to change settings and those will be saved for the next time you push record, but it will turn off after a few seconds of not scrolling through options.
Is is there a reason you want the led screen on all the time? As I mentioned, since the led isn't helpful to compose a shot, the idea is there is no reason to have it on unless you are changing settings. Otherwise it just waits off until you record. You can have it on without connections by turning on the voice control, but it will be using battery as it continually listens for a command.
