Hero 5 Session looping mode randomly does video + photo

My Hero 5 Session is set to looping mode 5 minutes.  About 1 time in ten when I turn it on, it decides to record photos as well as the video. This fills my SD card with literally thousands of unwanted photos.  It's REALLY annoying and I cannot find any explanation other than it being a bug.

 

This bug means the camera ceases to record video because it becomes full (of photos).  Thus looping mode fails to function.

 

Nuts.  Not cool.  Not cool at all.

 

It just did this again tonight but both the iPhone app and the wee menu LED indicate video only, looping mode, 5 minutes.

 

I do not change any settings as this is my dash cam, it just does this itself on random occasion.

 

Please tell me how to prevent this happening.

 

Or issue an update to patch and fix this bug.

 

By the way I keep it updated with the latest patches all the time.
