Hero 5 Session Will NOT Connect.

Hello again,

 

Genuinely fed up with this device,its shonky design and incredibly poor application quality or testing regeime.

 

This is the 3rd time in 6 months that I've been completely unable to get any use out of my device, and the 2nd time this has happened whilst being away.

 

  • I have an iPhone 6 running IOS 10.3.1.
  • I have disconnected from all WIFI networks.
  • I have 'forgotten' the GoPRO from my bluethooth devices.
  • I have disabled bluetooth when pairing.
  • I have removed the Capture App from my phone.
  • I have powered down my phone.
  • I have downloaded, and manually installed the latest GoPRO firmware on a freshly formatted SDCard (V02:00).
  • I have performed a factory reset on the GoPRO.

I have perfomed these steps many different times, in differing orders, and I have the exact same problem. I am unsure if this is the GoPRO, or the iPhone (I do not have another device to test with).

 

STEPS:

1. Open Capture App, and initiate the new connection wizard following steps until prompted to connect to wifi.

2. Start the 'Pairing Process' on the GoPRO with the correct menu settings.

3. The GoPRO screen displayed the pairing WIFI and KEY and the LEDs flash blue.

4. On iPhone, open Settings, and select the WIFI network the GoPRO is broadcasting.

5. Input the EXACT. SAME. WIFI. KEY. for the network.

6. 'Incorrect Password' is displayed on the phone and I can progress no further.

I look forward to rehashing the same 'fixes' as posted to everyone elses 'issues' threads. Perhaps one of them will suddenly work.

THe only other option would be to perform the fw update directly from the flash card (manual update).

Immediately after update perform a factory reset.

Than try one last time...

 

If that yeilds same results, then contact GP support!

If you have access to another smart phone see if it can connect and that would rule out the H5S and mean your phone is the issue.

 

You could have a dud/lemonv -- have you contacted GoPro support yet?

 

Have you tried disabling wifi & bluetooth on iPhone, then enabling wifi first and trying to connect? (I know it sounds strange but that has fixed the connetivity issues some had with iPhone - H5S)

 

I am truly sorry you are having these issues, the H5S (My H5S) is a great action camera and I love it!

Hi,

 

I have tried all concievable different options, and the thing will just not connect.

 

I managed to pursuade a fellow hotel guest to let me borrow thier iPad, and I am getting the same results. Could this be due to a corruption in the GoPRO OS? A fault in the WIFI adapter?

Unfortunately, these actions have previously been performed and do not fix the issue. I have also re-run this over weekend and the result is the same.

 

Time to get in contact with their snail-pace support team.
