Hero 4 silver bad quality stills.

I was taking stills on capture after a day of video and pictures in a set of woods. Some of the videos were on 4k and 1080. But both are producing terrible still capture. The stills were grabs from the capture app on my phone. Example below. Take note of the terrible quality of the word caterpillar on the boot. Any information please8F73D754126A2E0B3A3BDB8F3BD2C4BE.jpg

Hi,

To improve the quality of your stills, I have found that actually reducing your frames/sec and increasing your shutter speed will give the best results.

Hope that helps.

Re: Hero 4 silver bad quality stills.

The quality of a frame in video is dependent on many things: resolution, frame rate, ISO, shutter speed, available light, etc.

Looking at the picture you provided is say it looks pretty good considering this is a still from video and not a static photo. You will never get the same quality from a frame shot of video as you will get from a properly taken photo. You can get close, but even at 4K you won't get the same quality of a 12 MP photo.
