Hero 4 Session completely dead

I’ve had my Hero 4 Session for just over 18 months no issues. Two days ago I took it off charge as usual and noticed that the charge icon stayed on display in the screen. It then stopped working, somehow using a combination of buttons it started working and was ok for 24 hours. It then did the same thing but is now effectively dead, no combination of buttons gets any response. Not overly impressed as it’s only 18 months old and would be appear to be completely dead.

Re: Hero 4 Session completely dead

Hi @epicshore34715

Sorry to know that and apologies for the inconvenience.

Looks like it's a firmware and SD card issue.

Also the battery is drained that's why it would really take a lot of time to boot up.

You need to charge it for about an hour before that camera to boot up.

To fix that issue you need to get a new recommended SD card.

Check this list: https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations

To update the firmware manually. Check this link.

https://gopro.com/update/hero_session
Then click on Update your camera Manually.

You may also contact GoPro Customer Support for more information/details.

Thanks,

-Jay

We have some tips to try at https://gopro.com/help/articles/Solutions_Troubleshooting/HERO4-Session-Will-Not-Power-On. If those don't correct the issue, our team at https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs can help.

Nope already tried that several times. Using my rights under the Consumer Rights Act I’m returning it to where I bought it from. Plenty of other posts showing the same issue so not an unknown fault. For £160 I would expect better reliability than just 18 months

Re: Hero 4 Session completely dead

Annoyingly the problem corrected itself, I can only assume that it totally drained the battery but it took weeks.

Tonight it does again, can’t turn it on, reset it; nothing!

And it’s not even like I can take the battery out to force a reset. It seemingly got stuck in its previous mode then locked up. Had to reset it by pressing both buttons together. Now it’s dead! Not impressed....
