Her 6 gps not working most of the time

Hi so i have my gps on in my settings and the camera updated to the latest firmware and my gps is greyed out 80% of the time despite the fact the camera has been on in this location for a number of time... in cities villages outdoor and indoor it is the same persistent issue

I am sorry for any troubles caused. Kindly check if a manual software update will correct the issue.

I have the same issue where I don't get any gps at all on my hero 6. Some say you need to wait for the icon to light up before pressing record, but I have got the hero 5 and 6 together at the same time, with one touch record, and I am able to get gps on the 5 but not on the 6. There is definatley something wrong with the gps on the 6, dissapointed and not happy!!

I am sorry to hear that you are having some trouble getting GPS on that HERO6. I would recommend trying to perform a manual update for that camera and see if that helps!

Hi Ryan,

 

thanks for coming back on the issue, I have followed the manual update which has not resolved the issue.  I have noticed that when in Go Pro Quick when i click in settings, with a memory card inserted i have have no firmware version, it shows as Nulll (see attachment). Do you think there is a problem with the camera as I have the issue on 2 different memory card, which work in the Hero 5.

What SD Card are you using? You may need to get in touch with our Support Team directly. They can walk through the Update Process with you and if there is an issue look at warranty options for you.

I have the same GPS issue but my firmware version is correctly display in the SD card settings.

 

Furthermore, i have noticed that GPS data can sometimes be wrong as you can see on the screenshot below.

 

For my part, i tried to :

  • Wait for the GPS connection before start recording
  • Factory reset and manualy update again (update successful)
  • Turn off connections (wifi and bluetooth)

 

But nothing work. Most of the time, i use my camera on my motocycle so, outdoor by clear sky.
