I'm getting terrible wind noise with the Hero 5 Black. I hear they're supposed to be pretty good at noise reduction by using the three mics, but even in a light breeze the bass thumps created by wind are very prominent and distracting. I can't find any fixes for it.
- I've tried changing the audio settings, from Auto to Manual, and enabled Wind, but honestly it does stuff all.
- I've even tried using a rubber band wrapped around the device and used different types of foam to cover the three mics, which not only looks rediculous but the results aren't that great either (albeit a slight improvement).
- It looks as if the Windslayer isn't available for the Hero 5 Black (if I'm wrong please correct me on that).
- I just tired a sock covering the whole device (except the camera), and once again, only a slight improvement.
Has anybody got any further suggestions? Or perhaps they'd like to share their Hero 5 Black 'hacks' to fix the sound. I'm keen to hear about aftermarket mics with wind filters, particuarly compatibility with the Hero 5.

Sorry to hear about that @jasons47613.
Hopefully, I can help you out with the audio issue.
So it seems you tried all the different audio settings that's
a great start on finding a solution. The HERO5 doesn't have a
Windslayer like the HERO4 had. This seems to be common.
You can use a 3rd party microphone that is compatible.
Also their are no hacks for this, it's best not to do that to
the GoPro, making it void the GoPro Care (If Purchased) or
the warranty for the camera. Another way would be editing the audio
in Final Cut Pro, Premier Pro, or any other editing software, or application.

Thansk for the responses. I have tired a highpass filter but the result is a tinny sound with no bass. I also think it's a bad idea to be fixing problems in software, rather than getting the right in hardware.
Does anybody know what third party mics are available for the Hero 5 Black?

and you think the software was going to take the wind away , Ui4K action camera you can wave your hand across and it will make hte sound BAD, far worse then gopro here.
Manual Winddoes its jog. remember all the stereo and wind noise are canceled when using a promic
