Aloha all,

Is it normal for the camera to become hot after a short period? Also, when the camera is heating is the battery life being shortened?

Try to update your camera manually and then check your camera settings after update. 

Make sure that the Wi-Fi and Voice command is turned off when not in use. 

Drain your battery completely then charge it again. 

Check if that will make any difference.

When you say short period - how short it is?

What resolution are you using and how's the weather like?

By the way make sure that you're using a recommended SD card.

Aloha Jay, the short period to me is about 30 minutes. The weather here is absolutely gorgeous. Humidity in my home? Central air conditioning. Outside during the day has been in the mid to high 80’s. I just got my Go Pro “Hero 8” and was learning on it indoors when I noticed the heat issue. The SD card is the one that came with the camera.
