My problem with these files is that I cannot open them at all.
I use MacBook Air (not the newest one) and it seems that until I upgrade my MacBook, I won't be able to do anything.

This doesn't help with people with Macs and editing with Final Cut Pro, but I've been able to edit without issue on my Windows 10 i7 NVIDIA 1050ti. I use Adobe Premiere Pro cc.
This is a little slow motion test I did with my Hero6 Black 1080/240.
And this was filmed by my son. For some reason he thought it would look good if he filmed in 1080/240. It's not bad but the low light is pretty bad which is to be expected from such a high frame rate.

As for editing GoPro Hero6 H.265 in FCP X, a workaround is to transcode H.265 to ProRes before you import it to FCP.
I use video converter from Brorsoft - it is fantastic !!

Hi, I’ve updated to Sierra High and the 240 frames now works on the computer, I had to install the updated version of Final Cut Pro but seem to be suffering with the same issue as you 😢
