(HERO8 BLACK) I can't take photos even in photo mode

[ Edited ]

[HERO8 BLACK]

I can't take photos even in photo mode

Touch icon is also a problem

Camera is the latest version (v1.50)

Is this an initial failure?

Press the record button in the photo mode to start shooting a movie.

This is clearly a bug.

Re: (HERO8 BLACK) I can't take photos even in photo mode

Specifically what happens? With the camera on, you press the top shutter and nothing happens?

Make sure you are using a SD card from this list https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/microSD-Card-Considerations

Go to the Update page and choose your HERO8 camera. https://gopro.com/update
Under "Other ways to update" at the base of the page, click "Update your camera manually."
Enter your Serial Number and other requested information, click Next Step.
Click "Download Update."
Click "Click here to download firmware."
Once downloaded, Extract (unzip) the UPDATE.zip file. You will get a folder named UPDATE with files inside. Save this to your computer.

Using a USB/SD adapter, insert your SD card into the computer. Find the card using Windows Explorer (or Finder on Mac) and perform a FULL (not Quick) format.

Once the format is complete, copy the UPDATE folder (not UPDATE.zip) to the blank SD card

Eject the card and insert into your camera. Power on the camera using the side Mode/Power button and let the update run.

Once completed, power the camera on using the Mode/Power button and go to Preferences>Reset> and format the SD (it's also a good idea, but not required, to factory reset the camera Preferences>Reset>Factory Reset).

If you continue to have issues, try the above with another card from the list.

Try a different, known good SD card. GoPro recommends only purchasing name brand SD cards through reputable resellers. There are both counterfeit and under-performing SD cards out in the marketplace, which can prevent proper functioning of your camera's features.

If trying all of the above does not solve your issue, contact the GoPro Support Team. https://gopro.com/help/ContactUs
