HERO5 Wifi/Capture App

On my iPhone 6S, when I go to Settings and select the GoPro Wifi name to connect to it, it then says "No Internet Connection". I then exited out of Settings and go back to the Capture app and everything is connected, BUT, my iPhone WiFi changes to 4G LTE and it disconnects my home's WiFi.  Is this supposed to happen???  I don't want to be using my phone data for this at home, which is really stupid and makes no sense.  Did I do something wrong?

Re: HERO5 Wifi/Capture App

@chickenlonglox - Yes, that's normal. The phone is picking up the wifi signal coming from the camera. This signal does not have an Internet connection as well, so that's why you're getting the "No Internet connection" alert.

Because your wifi connection is move from your home network to the camera's wifi, you will lose connection to your home network. When you're done with the GoPro, you can switch back to your home network.

Finally, when you're connected to the camera, the link is not using any data unless you happen to be using other apps that require an external connection at the same time. For most common uses, this is not an issue, but if you happen to stream your camera on Periscope, for example, then that stream would use data.

Re: HERO5 Wifi/Capture App

no internet connected right? are you using Plus no then that is why you see it that way.  I wanted to periscope wirelessly, I then  ditch gopro, if I use it or use the iphone  itself Lol

Re: HERO5 Wifi/Capture App

It's the phone that cannot connect to two wi-fi signals at the same time.  If the phone could, you would not be disconnected from your home wi-fi and would be able to connect to the camera at the same time.  The GoPro camera really could care less if you have another connection. Since the phone requires you to be connected to only one network, when you select connect my camera, you are telling the phone to disconnect from your home wireless and connect to the camera instead.

Re: HERO5 Wifi/Capture App

By chance are you on the European version of the Samsung? If so, there is an issue with the processor of that particular device.
