HERO 4 Session freezing

[ New ]

Hiya,

Pulled old "HERO4 Session" out of desk drawer and figured I'd have one more go before chucking it.

Upgraded firmware to: "HX1.01.02.00"

Camera serial: "**"

SD Card:

SanDisk

Ultra PLUS 32G

"Micro SD HC I"

Formatted: MS-DOS (FAT32)

Size: 32GB

Camera freezes after shooting a couple of 20 second clips.

Happy to buy a new SD card or try a different format.

All the best,

D

Hello @df463

Ultra cards are not recommended to be used with GoPro cameras. They may work initially but they are observed to cause issues with the camera eventually.

Check out SD Cards that Work with GoPro Cameras

Once you have access to a recommended SD card.

Run a manual update before testing the camera.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!

Ej

So, wow!

I've stuck a new micro sd card (not an "ultra") and the camera now works!

I spent £250 on the thing, took it on my family holiday and go no shots. Came home furious and almost blended the camera.

Seems crazy, the GoPro experience can be so wonderful:-) Seems a total shame to have it vulnerable to something as silly as card compatibility.

I suggest shipping cameras with a strip of red sticky tape over the SD slot with "some cards will kill your camera (link)".

This way, customers in a hurry to get going won't put a card in without double-checking first.

Thanks for getting me sorted out, I headed out to the loch today and got some great damp footage:-)

All the best

D

Glad to hear that you were able to use the camera again! @df463

Feel free to post back if something comes up.

Thanks!
