Taken photos and video with new gopro8 but can't see any gps info on them either in camera or GoPro app. Gps is turned on and icon is white

GPS info doesn't show up in the camera.  You need to import the footage to the app and then edit the clip, you can then add GPS stickers from the options.

Your other options are to use Race Render or Dashware for the PC.

Some of the apps do not support the GPS data in the new cameras (Hero 8 an Max) yet. You can check whether the data is there and its quality here https://goprotelemetryextractor.com/free/
