Bought a GoPro Hero 7 Black recently and I'm facing issues when controling the camera from the Gopro app.
Very often when I'm in video mode and camera is connected to the GoPro app on my phone, at first I have the preview and all seems to work properly but after a few secs I lose the preview (only shows a black screen). Same on the camera I see only a black screen and if I start recording from the app or the camera directly nithing happens. After that I only have clips of 00:00 on the SD card.....
Not too sure how to troubleshoot this.

The GoPro App's live preview screen will vary on the video resolution settings currently used in the camera. If you do not see Live Preview, you can try another resolution, or your device might not support the high frame rate/resolution you are shooting in.
Were you recording a regular video? Or a Time Lapse video / Night Lapse video?
Just for a test, try recording using the standard resolution 1080P 60FPS. Do you get a working live preview screen on the GoPro App? If not, you may try the troubleshooting suggestions in this article.

Thanks for your message.
No but the preview usually works. And I could start filming and use all the features. But sometimes (without changing mode or resolution) the preview disappears and camera seems stuck.

Thanks for the update, @sebnunes. The camera's touch display will eventually turn off or go dark based on the camera's screen saver settings. However, if the camera is connected to the GoPro App, the live preview screen on the app itself should stay on all throughout.
When you mentioned that the camera appears to be stucked at some point, are you also saying that the camera is unresponsive to the (Mode/Shutter) buttons or somewhat freezing?
What SD card are you using? Freezing issue in a camera is usually an indicator the camera's software needs to be updated or there is potentially an issue with the microSD being used. Try removing the SD card and see if the camera still freezes up. If it no longer freezes, then the issue is likely stemming from the SD card.
You can get the full list of microSD cards that are known to work well with GoPro cameras here: https://gopro.com/help/articles/Block/microSD-Card-Considerations
It is also advisable to format the SD card before use. (NOTE: Reformatting the SD card will delete all data off of the card, so be sure that you save any videos or pictures you want to keep on your computer before reformatting the SD card.)
Reinstalling the firmware update of the camera can also help correct any errors with the current software installation. Follow the manual update instructions specified on this article: https://gopro.com/help/articles/block/How-to-Update-GoPro-Cameras
