Gopro hero 8 getting extremely hot shooting in underwater case

[ New ]
Hello, Is anyone using gopro 8 in waterproof housing for ahooting vids? I just did today and my gopro was pretty **bleep** hot. I am afraid not to damage it or melt the water proof glue and stuff...

@manigopro, when using 2.7K and higher resolutions, and/or frame rates above 60fps, it is normal for the camera to become warm, but not too hot, and use more power when using these modes. Lack of airflow around the camera when used with Protective Housing and using the camera with the GoPro App, can also increase camera temperature and power consumption, and decrease camera recording time.

Additionally, make sure that a recommended SD card is used for your camera. Using SD cards that aren't recommended can cause issues like freezing as the card isn't fast enough to write the content, the camera getting hot or battery consumption is higher than normal as the camera stays in an active mode trying to sync to the card.

Hi @manigopro

Do you observe the same when the camera is used in a different environment?

Please make sure that your camera is up to date and that you are using a recommended SD card.

Thanks!

Hello @ej no I don’t, I mean it get hotter when shooting for longer but not close to what it gets when shooting for an hr for example in the waterproof case. I just want to make sure I won’t damage my camera. Thanks
